…Sydney is back in the business of attracting big Hollywood movies with The Green Lantern heading for Fox Studios.
…The movie, based on the comic has a rumoured budget of more than $150 million.
…The Warner Bros-DC Comics venture is expected to take over the studios from preproduction in July until early next year. It will boost a film industry struggling for consistent production since Superman Returns was wrapped up in late 2005.
…The Premier, Nathan Rees, said that landing The Green Lantern was a coup for NSW. “The production is expected to employ 500 people at any given time … 100 performers, 200 crew and thousands of extras,” he said.
…The chief executive of Fox Studios Australia, Nancy Romano, said “the phone hasn’t stopped ringing” since the dollar began dropping and the State Government increased its screen industry incentives.
