Jane ****ion, who won the Palme d’Or for “The Piano” (1993), is back with her new film, Bright Star.

…Fanny is played by Australian actress Abbie Cornish.

…Ms. ****ion, who wrote the script, has made a sensual film.

…The director rehearsed her cast daily. “I so loved what Abbie gave to the character, her complete focus and concentration,” she said.

…“When we didn’t see eye to eye, we had good discussions. Sometimes I’d say, ‘Don’t be perfect, don’t defend your character; that’s the audience’s job.’”

…Fanny’s mother is played by New Zealand actress Kerry Fox.

…The cast was complete with the American Paul Schneider.
